You may have noticed that installing a Mobile Broadband connection on Linux is not the same as in Windows. That is because Windows systems it auto runs and prompts to install the setup as soon as you plug your USB dongle. But, that is not the case for Linux systems.
Shown below are 10 easy steps to create your new Mobile Broadband connection.
(I will be using Linux mint)
Step 1
First you have go your menu and select "Preferences" option.
Step 2
Then you have to scroll and select the "Network Connections" option.
Step 3
A window will pop up. Select the "Add a new connection" option.
Step 4
Select "Mobile Broadband" option available under the Hardware options and select Create...
Step 5
Select your Mobile Broadband device type from the list and click Next.
Step 6
Select the respective Country or Region you reside in and click Next.
Step 7
Select your respective Internet Service Provider from the given list and click Next.
Step 8
Select your preferred plan for Mobile data and click Next.
Step 9
The window will show you the current settings for your Broadband connection. If you are satisfied with the settings then you can click on Apply.
Step 10
A window will pop up with the Mobile Broadband connection details. Here, you can set a Username and Password for the connection and a name for the Connection. The password will be requested from you everytime you use the connection. I recommend not changing the Advanced Settings. You can set the connection to automatically connect when available from the "General" tab.
Once your satisfied with your connection click on Save and Voila, your Mobile Broadband connection has been created.
